UltSky is already pretty close to my perfect Skyrim experience, but I wouldn’t be a true Skyrim player if I didn’t spend more time modding the game than playing it. There is no direct replacement for this mod, however some of the combat overhauls do include a similar feature which is slightly more stable however can have problems of their own and as such I do not recommend using them. Here are the mods and MCM settings I’m using for my current LE Ultimate Skyrim playthrough. Locational Damage while great in concept, is not stable within the Skyrim engine and over time it starts to build up extreme script latency, which causes a slowdown in the games processing and can start to cause CTDs and major problems in combat with enemies not reacting properly. Locational Damage - Rating: One (1)Īnother mod that has potentially dangerous complications in long term saves.
Just read through the comments and you'll see some of the problems with such a mod including this comment from a group of modders/mod users who have worked hard to build a stable mod list that isn't plauged by a lot of CTDs for the original Skyrim.
Ill give you an example by linking you to the most popular and now vastly outdated Locational damage mod found on the Nexus. Depending on what you've done in that save recently as in fighting lots of large battles, it would only take a matter of a few hours for that save game to be unusable as the scripts are lagging drastically behind. That's a big problem as it can quickly bloat a save game and cause a lot of script lag. The main problem was that in order to replicate location based damage, the mods had to use a lot of scripting and it was on a per NPC basis. There have been past attempts at implementing such a system but Skyrim's game engine does not handle locational damage very well.
I would not recommend any kind of locational damage mod to be used for Skyrim if you want to have a stable game.
